Why Was My Credit Card Charged Twice for My Order?

Your credit card will be charged only after your item ships. When your order contains more than one item, will charge your card for each item individually after it ships. Since shipping times vary by item, your credit card statement may reflect individual charges for each item as it is shipped. 

Before your item ships, you'll notice a pre-authorization hold in the amount of your order on your card statement. The pre-authorization validates the credit card number, status, available credit line and billing information to ensure that it matches exactly what the bank or credit card company has on file. At this point your card hasn't been charged yet. 

Once an authorization is received, you may notice a decrease in your available credit line. Your bank or credit card company may put a hold on this dollar amount for a specified period of time. Each financial institution has a different policy on the time period of authorization holds. Also, please note that before authorizing the final sale, your bank may attempt to contact you for additional information. 

Debit Cards
When using a debit card, the full amount of the order will be deducted from your available balance upon authorization. 

Contact your bank or credit card company directly to learn about their specific authorization policies.

How Do I Track My Order On

Order tracking is available on many orders. If you'd like to track your order, follow these simple steps: 

  • Select the Order Status link--it's near the bottom of the home page--and sign in using your email address and password. 
  • Select the order number you'd like to track.
  • Look for the "Tracking #" link located next to the item.
  • Click the tracking number to be directed to the carrier’s website to track your shipment.

If you'd like to know the general shipping timeframe for the item you purchased, refer to the product page of the item you ordered. You can also check the Order Confirmation email you received after you placed your order. That email will contain the estimated delivery time information, noted under the heading labeled "Shipping & Terms." Once the item has shipped, your Shipping Confirmation email will also include tracking details.

Can I Get Prescription Drug Pricing On

Prescription drug pricing is easy to access on the website. Just visit and select Pharmacy near the top of the page. Then, simply type in the prescription drug's name into the "Search Medications" field. 

You'll see the name of the medication. Click on it and you should then see the information you're looking for, including strengths, generic substitutes, and—if available—Costco pricing.

How Can I Return My Contact Lens Order?

If you are not completely satisfied with your contact lens order, simply return your order to the Optical Department of any Costco location. There’s no need to wait in the general returns line at the warehouse. 

If you are unable to return your online order at one of our warehouses, please contact Costco. To expedite the processing of your return, please reference your order number.

How are Freight Returns Handled?

If your item was delivered by a freight carrier, it will be picked up the same way it was delivered (Curbside, Threshold, or White Glove). There are a few exceptions, however: freight pickup does not include Special Order Kiosk, Custom Installed Programs, or Costco Warehouse Special Event purchases that may include delivery. 

When the return is initiated, the carrier will contact you within 5-7 business days using the phone number listed on your order. You can set up a time for them to come by and pick up your order. 

Once Costco has confirmed the order is picked up and in transit, they will process your refund. You'll receive a confirmation email once Costco has issued your credit. Costco asks that you allow a few business days for your credit card company or bank to process the credit. 

Can I Exchange My Order At Costco?

In some instances, Costco may be able to process an exchange order for an item that you have ordered. If you would like us to check on the availability of an exchange order, please contact Costco. 

If you would rather return the item for a full refund Costco has two convenient options: 

  • The item may be returned and refunded in full (including shipping and handling fees) and if you wish to reorder the item, you may do so online 
  • Or simply return the item at any Costco warehouse location for an immediate refund

If you would prefer to ship it back, please let us know and we will arrange for it to be picked up. Once it is picked up we will process the refund.

Please note, Costco will guarantee your satisfaction on every product they sell with a full refund, subject to certain product-specific limitations.

What is Costco's Major Appliance Return Policy?

Effective Jan. 5, 2016, major appliances have been added to the Costco Concierge Services program as a new benefit of Costco membership. 

With this change, the manufacturer's warranty on major appliances extends to two years. Costco Concierge Services also offers free warranty assistance on top of that. 

The specifics of warranty coverage depend on the individual manufacturer, but the two-year length of coverage applies to all manufacturers and all the below-listed appliances. For more info on coverage, you may call the manufacturer directly or call Costco Concierge Services at 1-866-861-0450. 

Costco will accept returns within 90 days from the date the member received the following items: 

  • Refrigerators (more than 10 cubic feet) 
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Freezers
  • Ranges
  • Cooktops
  • Over-the-range microwaves

How can I return an item purchased in a Costco Warehouse?

With few exceptions, Costco has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Simply bring the product to any Costco warehouse and the Member Services Team will be happy to assist you. It helps if you have the receipt or original product packaging, but it may not be necessary to process your return. 

Please keep in mind that, in order to continue delivering the low prices you expect from Costco, some items do need to be returned within 90 days.

How Can I Find If an Item is Available At My Local Costco?

There are several ways that you can determine the availability of an item at your local warehouse: 

  • Visit the membership counter at your local Costco in person. 
  • Call your local warehouse.
  • Contact Costco.

However you choose to get in touch, please know that it helps speed up the process if you have either the item number or the product description handy! 

Finally, while Costco does try to keep popular items in stock for you to enjoy, it's best to get in touch sooner rather than later. Costco certainly doesn't want you to miss out on whatever it is you're looking for!

How Can I Make Changes to My Membership Account?

As long as you are the Primary Member or Account Manager, your membership can be adjusted a couple ways: 

  • To adjust your membership online, simply sign in here and head on over to Account Details. 
  • Contact our Member Service team by using the "Contact Us" section on the left of this page.

Of course, you can always visit Costco in person at your local warehouse and a member of our team will be happy to assist you.
