My Plans Have Changed - How Do I Change My Hotel Reservation?

You may be able to change your hotel reservation by cancelling and rebooking it. Cancellation policies vary by type of Hotwire booking, hotel policy, and room type. You can find your cancellation policy in your confirmation email or on your My Account page. 

Hot Rate® Hotel bookings, however, are final. They cannot be canceled, refunded, exchanged, transferred, or changed, even for a fee. 

If your travel changes are due to an emergency and you purchased Trip Protection insurance from the partner, Allianz Global Assistance, you may be covered.

Will I Need a Credit Card As a Deposit At the Car Rental Counter?

Yes, the rental agency requires a credit card deposit when you pick up the car. (Some rental locations may accept debit or check cards for deposits, but they may have additional requirements such as a credit check or proof of a roundtrip itinerary.) The credit card must be in the name of the primary driver and have enough available credit for the deposit. The deposit amount varies depending on the type of car, length of rental, and any other items you purchase at the rental counter, such as insurance.

How Can I Change My Flight?

To cancel a flight

  1. Go to your My Trips page
  2. Select the itinerary you wish to cancel
  3. Select Cancel Flight under Manage Booking

Can I Change My Pick-up Or Drop-off Time?

Sure, however Hotwire can only guarantee the quoted rate for the prearranged reservation. If you return the car more than 30 minutes late, you may be charged by the car rental agency for extra rental days, and potentially at a higher rate.

If your plans change in advance, you may be able to cancel your original reservation without penalty and create a new reservation. Log in "My Account" on the Hotwire site. If you’re able to cancel the reservation, a "Cancel Reservation" button will be available next to the car booking. If you’ve already picked up the car and want to change the drop-off time, contact the car rental agency to see if they’re able to accommodate the change. You can find their contact information in your confirmation email. Please note that additional fees may apply.
 
All Hot Rate® Car bookings are final and cannot be cancelled, refunded, changed, exchanged, or transferred, even for a fee. We can’t reimburse you for unused portions of your reservation. However, if an airline delay prevents you from arriving within 24 hours of your original pick-up time, you can cancel your reservation after Hotwire verifies the situation.

Can I Cancel Or Change My Car Reservation If My Plans Change?

Some car reservations may be cancelled without a penalty.  Log in to your My Account on Hotwire. If you have the option to cancel, a "Cancel reservation" button will appear next to your reservation.  If you decide to cancel, you'll receive an email confirmation.

Once you agree to Hotwire's Terms of Use and confirm a booking on their site or with a travel specialist, your credit card will be charged for the total price shown.
