Why is There an Appearance Of Grey Lines On My Denby Dishes?

This is a common issue that is actually related to the flatware you are using and affects mostly white or light faced plates which tend to show metal marks rather than actual scratches.  The flatware being used is softer than the glaze on the dishes.  Denby glazes are extremely hard and over time some of the metal actually gets left behind on the plate.  This will occur depending on the nickel content of the flatware.  The higher the nickel content the more likely chance of the grey/black lines  appearing.   Luckily, these markings can be removed in most cases with a little extra cleaning power using a sponge or nylon scrubby and a mild abrasive such as Soft Scrub, Bar Keeper’s Friend, Bon Ami or Ceramabryte every once in a while.
